A passionate farmer who specializes in conceptualizing, designing, installing, managing, processing, value addition and marketing.
Gil received hands-on practical training and education in Jericho desert, Israel and deserts of Arizona & California in USA. Gil has for over 40 years of experience and pioneered the commercial intensive vegetable cultivation in South Africa, using climate smart drip irrigation.
Over the course of Gil’s career in Agribusiness his farms have supplied produce to major South African retailers like Woolworths, Spar and Pick ‘n Pay. He was the first one to grow Crip lettuce with hydroponics in South Africa. Till date the company which acquired this project, Eldorado Lettuce (Pty) Ltd produces over 650,000 lettuce per annum.
He started the small-scale farmer goat production in South Africa- KALAHARI KIDS CORPORATION, with the support of local government. The current exports of 70,000 goats every quarter from South Africa to Middle East is courtesy his efforts in leading this program.Gil has been implementing agriculture-based projects across Africa, of which majority are in South Africa where he is based, but he has been involved in various projects in Uganda, DR Congo, Ivory Coast, Angola, Madagascar, Lesotho.
