Gili Irrigation began in 1984, when Gil took 300 Irrigation Engineers and top farmers to Israel, and to practically train them on smart hi-tech farming and growing technologies.
Gili Irrigation (backed by 7 Israeli Kibbutzim like Netafim, Israel- which were into drip lines, computers, sensors, valves, pumps and motors, etc.) installed and provided end-to-end irrigation solutions to the farmers and institutions till 1992, when finally, Netafim decided to put their own plant in South Africa.
Netafim South Africa has been serving South Africa and its neighboring countries with irrigation solutions and services since 1992. At the premises in Kraaifontein, it houses one of only 17 Netafim manufacturing plants across the globe.
Etienne Erasmus – Managing Director, NETAFIM
From 1985 until 1994, he moved to the wholesale side of the irrigation business by pursuing his career at Gili Irrigation.Etienne joined Netafim as Managing Director in 2006, which has offered him increasingly significant opportunities.
